Arrest Made in New Year’s Day Shooting on N. Glebe Road

ARLINGTON, Va. – Arlington County Police have arrested Malachi Rawlings, 21, of Washington, D.C., in connection with a New Year’s Day shooting at a residential building in the 1000 block of N. Glebe Road. Rawlings faces charges of Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He is currently held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility.

Police responded to the scene around 1:11 a.m. after receiving a report of an assault with a weapon. According to investigators, the incident began as a verbal dispute in a shared area of the building. During the altercation, Rawlings allegedly brandished a firearm and fired, striking one man. Another individual in the group returned fire, wounding Rawlings.

The initial victim, an adult male, later sought treatment at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Rawlings was found nearby at the intersection of N. Glebe Road and 11th Street N., where medics transported him to the hospital for his own non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was arrested after being treated.
