ARLINGTON — The Arlington County Police Department is asking for the public’s help after arresting a man they believe may be behind several indecent exposure cases — and possibly more.
It all started on the afternoon of May 31. Around 2:40 p.m., a woman reported that a man had exposed himself while she was walking near Clarendon Boulevard and Washington Boulevard. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the suspect at that time.
Later that same day, just after 4:45 p.m., another call came in — this time about an assault. A woman walking with two children near N. George Mason Drive and Washington Boulevard said a man not only exposed himself but also touched her inappropriately before running off. Officers were able to track the man down nearby at 18th Street N. and Washington Boulevard and arrested him.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Ivan Fontana of Arlington, now faces charges for both incidents: two counts of Indecent Exposure, one count of Sexual Battery, and one count of Indecent Liberties with a Child.
A few days later, on June 4, police received another report — this time about an incident that occurred around 3:00 p.m. on the same day, May 31. A third woman said the same man exposed himself to her in the 1000 block of N. Quincy Street. That led to yet another charge of indecent exposure.
Detectives say these cases appear to be connected, and they believe there may be other victims who haven’t come forward yet. If you think you’ve had an encounter with this man or have any information, you’re urged to contact Detective P. Pena at 703-228-4183.
