At approximately 2:08 a.m. on July 27, an officer observed a group of individuals, one of which who was displaying a knife, involved in a physical altercation outside of a business. The officer issued commands to the suspect with the knife and with the assistance of additional responding officers, he was taken into custody. The preliminary investigation determined the male victim and several witnesses were outside their vehicle outside a business when the male suspect allegedly approached them and engaged them in conversation. The suspect then became agitated, displayed a knife and attempted to strike the victim with it. The victim and witnesses then attempted remove the knife from the suspect’s hand, during which the victim was struck with it, resulting in a laceration. The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated and released on scene by medics. Uveimar Sandoval, 27, of Centreville, Va. was arrested and charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding.
