Location: N. Oakland Street at 5th Street N., Arlington VA
Time: Approximately 3:25 p.m., November 8, 2025
Police were dispatched to the intersection of N. Oakland Street and 5th Street N. on the afternoon of November 8 following a report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, officers located a man with an open container of alcohol and determined he was publicly intoxicated.
As officers attempted to take him into custody, the suspect reportedly kicked and tried to disarm an officer while making threatening remarks. Additional units arrived to assist, and the suspect was successfully detained without injuries reported.
Lucas Belcher, 38, of Palmyra, VA, was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Attempted Disarming of a Law Enforcement Officer, and Public Intoxication.
