ARLINGTON, Va. — A 23-year-old Arlington man is facing multiple charges after police say he fired projectiles from an air pistol out the window of his apartment, hitting two people and damaging several vehicles on South Courthouse Road early Tuesday morning.
Around 4:39 a.m. on November 6, Arlington County Police responded to reports of a shooting near the 1200 block of S. Courthouse Road. When officers arrived, they were met by a man who said he’d been hit by something. Soon after, a second man reported the same thing while standing outside his car nearby. Both victims had minor injuries and did not need medical attention.
Officers also found three parked cars in the area with damage from the projectiles.
Investigators traced the shots to a unit in a nearby apartment building. After identifying the suspect’s apartment, officers entered and arrested Donis Manuel Chan Ajtum, 23. A search turned up an air pistol, CO2 cartridges, and projectiles. Police say Chan Ajtum also had fake identification on him.
He’s been charged with:
-
Reckless Handling of a Firearm
-
Assault & Battery (two counts)
-
Shooting Missiles at Occupied Vehicles (two counts)
-
Destruction of Property (three counts)
-
Possession of Fake Identification
-
Fraudulent Use of Identification
He’s currently being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility.
This remains an open investigation, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the ACPD tip line at 703-228-4180.
