A routine call for a public disturbance turned violent on Langston Boulevard when a man allegedly disrupted a business by throwing merchandise and later assaulted police officers attempting to arrest him. Responding officers encountered the suspect, James Stephens Jr., 45, of Arlington, VA, who refused to comply with commands. As they tried to take him into custody, he resisted arrest and assaulted two officers, attempting to kick another. Minor injuries were sustained by the officers. After being evaluated by medics, Stephens was charged with Assault and Battery on Law Enforcement and Obstruction of Justice. He is currently held without bond.
