Two Washington, D.C., women were arrested early March 6 following an assault in the 1100 block of Army Navy Drive that left a victim hospitalized.
Police say the incident began when two women sitting inside a vehicle became involved in a verbal dispute with a female acquaintance who was standing outside the vehicle. The argument escalated when both suspects exited the car and allegedly assaulted the victim.
The attack reportedly stopped when a witness came outside from a nearby building to check on the victim.
The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
Officers made contact with both suspects at the scene and took them into custody.
Eryn Hughes, 24, of Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding by Mob.
Damaiya James, 23, of Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding by Mob, Driving Under the Influence, and Breath Test Refusal. During the investigation, officers also located an open alcohol container on the driver’s side of the suspect vehicle.
