A routine patrol turned volatile when an officer was alerted to a shoplifting incident at a nearby business. According to the investigation, a juvenile male suspect allegedly entered the store, took merchandise, and fled without paying.
The officer pursued the suspect, who ignored commands to stop. As the officer attempted to detain him, two additional juveniles—a male and a female—approached and assaulted the officer.
Backup units and security personnel quickly arrived, helping take all three suspects into custody. The officer sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment. Charges include shoplifting and obstruction of justice for the first suspect, while the other two face charges of assault on law enforcement and obstruction.
