A burglary in progress was reported Friday afternoon in the 1100 block of S. Thomas Street. Police say a man forced his way into a residence and then into a closed bedroom while the female victim was inside.
The suspect, who was known to the victim, allegedly displayed what appeared to be a knife and made threatening statements before fleeing the scene. Officers quickly canvassed the area and located a suspect nearby at Columbia Pike and S. Dinwiddie Street.
Franklin Washington, 47, of no fixed address, was arrested. During the arrest, officers recovered suspected narcotics. He faces charges including burglary, assault and battery, drug possession, and attempted unlawful entry. He is being held without bond.
