Arlington County Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a vehicle believed to be involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian early Monday morning.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 1:22 a.m. on June 8 to the area of Columbia Pike and S. Thomas Street following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they found an adult female unresponsive in the roadway suffering from severe injuries.
Despite emergency response efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the driver of the vehicle involved fled immediately after the crash.
As the investigation progressed, detectives identified the suspect vehicle as a 2016-2019 Honda CR-V, Obsidian Blue Pearl in color. Investigators believe the SUV is missing its front grille as a result of the collision.
The victim’s identity has not been released as police continue efforts to notify next of kin.
The Arlington County Police Department’s investigation remains active. Detectives are urging anyone who may have seen the vehicle, has surveillance footage, or possesses information related to the crash to come forward.
