Man Charged After Knife Assault on 24th Road South

Location: 2300 block of 24th Road S., Arlington VA
Time: June 5, 2026, approximately 5:00 p.m.

A dispute between two individuals who knew each other resulted in a stabbing and an arrest in Arlington on June 5.

Police received a late report of the incident at approximately 5:42 p.m. when the victim arrived at the police station seeking assistance. Investigators learned that the altercation occurred around 5:00 p.m. in the 2300 block of 24th Road South.

During the dispute, the suspect allegedly displayed a knife and struck the victim, causing lacerations. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers identified the suspect during their investigation and took him into custody. After being evaluated and cleared at a local hospital, Mehmet Yatagan, 36, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. He was held without bond.
