Man Arrested After Malicious Wounding on 23rd Street South

Location: 500 block of 23rd Street S., Arlington VA
Time: Approximately 9:18 p.m., July 1

A Springfield man was arrested after an alleged assault in Arlington on the evening of July 1.

According to police, the victim was walking in the 500 block of 23rd Street South when he was approached by a man who allegedly began assaulting him. After the attack, the suspect entered a vehicle and attempted to leave the scene.

The victim prevented the suspect from driving away until officers arrived. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Responding officers took the suspect into custody at the scene. He was also transported to a hospital for treatment before being released into police custody.

Ian Shores, 43, of Springfield, was charged with Malicious Wounding, Driving Under the Influence, and Breath Test Refusal. He was held without bond.
