Three Teens Accused in Robbery and Assault near N. Rhodes Street

Arlington County police are investigating an early-morning robbery and assault involving three teenage male suspects.

Police were dispatched to the police station at approximately 1:18 a.m. after a female victim reported an assault that had just occurred. Investigators determined the victim had been outside in the 1200 block of N. Rhodes Street when three male suspects, all described as being in their teens and known to each other, approached her.

Police allege the first suspect brandished what appeared to be a firearm, demanded the victim’s cellphone, took the phone and threw it on the ground. The suspects then allegedly assaulted the victim and stole her bag, which contained electronics and personal belongings.

The suspects fled on foot. The victim sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening and immediately reported the incident at the police station.

Officers searching the area located two individuals matching the descriptions of the second and third suspects near N. Rhodes Street and 14th Street N. and took them into custody. The first suspect was not located.

Petitions for the second suspect were obtained for Malicious Wounding by Mob, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Destruction of Property. Police said the third suspect allegedly wore a ski mask during the assault, and petitions were obtained for Malicious Wounding by Mob, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Wearing a Mask in a Public Place.

The investigation remains ongoing.
