A 66-year-old Arlington woman faces multiple charges following an alleged shoplifting incident that resulted in an assault on a police officer.
An Arlington County Police officer conducting additional patrol checks in the area was dispatched to a reported larceny at a business on Army Navy Drive.
Investigators determined that a female suspect allegedly collected merchandise inside the store and left without paying.
An employee confronted the woman outside the business and contacted police. Responding officers detained the suspect.
During the investigation, the woman allegedly provided false identifying information to officers. Police also recovered burglarious tools during a search following her arrest.
Authorities reported that the suspect kicked an officer while being processed during booking.
Margaret Foshee, 66, of Arlington, VA, was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Shoplifting, Possession of Burglarious Tools, and Giving False Identity to a Law Enforcement Officer.
