Location: S. Frederick Street at Columbia Pike, Arlington VA

A wanted suspect was taken into custody on the evening of December 30 after a traffic stop led to a brief foot pursuit and the discovery of a firearm. Arlington Police observed the suspect, identified as Mauricio Alvarado Gutierrez, 19, of Arlington, VA, traveling in a vehicle near Columbia Pike and S. Frederick Street.
Officers initiated the stop based on his connection to an earlier case. Gutierrez attempted to flee the scene on foot but was quickly apprehended. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a concealed firearm.
Gutierrez was arrested and charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Obstruction of Justice. In addition, he was served with outstanding warrants related to Robbery and Assault by Mob. He is currently being held without bond.
The arrest underscores the continued efforts of Arlington law enforcement to address violent crime and apprehend individuals with outstanding warrants.
