ASSAULT ON POLICE: 1500 block of Columbia Pike Arlington VA

At approximately 1:47 a.m. on July 5, police were dispatched to the report of a dispute in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the female suspect and the male victim, who are known to each other, were in the parking lot of a residential building when the suspect allegedly struck the victim’s vehicle tire with a knife before fleeing the scene on foot. A lookout was broadcast, and a responding officer located an individual matching the description of the suspect in the area of Columbia Pike and S. Ode Street with the assistance of Virginia State Police. The officer and trooper gave the suspect commands to stop which she disregarded and while they attempted to take the suspect into custody, she kicked a trooper. The suspect was detained following a struggle. During a search incident to arrest, suspected narcotics were recovered, and the suspect was evaluated by medics at the scene. Once cleared, Janae Lancaster, 25, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Destruction of Property, Obstruction of Justice, Public Intoxication and Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance.
