At approximately 8:38 a.m. on July 5, police were dispatched to the report of disorderly conduct for a male allegedly harassing and spitting on passersby. Upon arrival, officers located an individual matching the description provided by witnesses, made contact with him and determined he was drinking in public. The officers attempted to have him leave the area, but he refused. As the officers attempted to place him into custody, the suspect became combative, kicked the door of a police vehicle and spat towards officers. Upon arrival at booking, the suspect refused to exit the transport vehicle and spat on an officer. With the assistance of additional officers, the suspect was brought into booking, during which he kicked, spit on, and attempted to bite the officers. During the course of the investigation, the suspect refused to identify himself and attempts by officers to identify him were unsuccessful. He was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on Law Enforcement (x4), Attempted Destruction of Property, Public Drunkenness, and Drinking Alcohol in Public and booked as a John Doe. He was held without bond.
