At approximately 3:11 p.m. on May 7, police were dispatched to the report of disorderly conduct. Upon arrival, it was determined the two victims were walking in the area when the male suspect approached, allegedly attempted to steal Victim One’s bag and brandished a boxcutter. Victim Two confronted the suspect, during which he threatened Victim Two with the boxcutter before fleeing the scene on foot. A lookout was broadcast and responding officers located an individual matching the description of the suspect in the area. The suspect was non-compliant, and with the assistance of additional responding officers, he was taken into custody. The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention. While in custody, the suspect kicked an officer and spat on another officer. During the course of the investigation, a boxcutter was recovered. Oi Young, 44, of Washington, DC was arrested and charged with Assault on Police (x2), Obstruction of Justice, Attempted Malicious Wounding and Attempted Robbery. He was held without bond.
