At approximately 3:38 p.m. on September 18, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery that had just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business and allegedly began concealing merchandise, during which an employee confronted him. The suspect exited the store without payment and fled the scene on foot. A lookout was broadcast and a responding officer located an individual matching the suspect’s description in the Clarendon Metro. The officer issued commands to the suspect, who was noncompliant and actively resisted arrest, during which the suspect grabbed the officer. With the assistance of additional responding officers, the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention. During the investigation, suspected narcotics were recovered. Antonni Florez-Diaz, 29, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Shoplifting, Obstruction of Justice, Possession of Schedule III/IV/V/VI Substance and Public Intoxication. He was held without bond.
