At approximately 12:47 p.m. on March 14, police were dispatched to the report of a male suspect who had caused property damage to a residential building. Upon arrival, it was determined the suspect entered the building’s lobby and allegedly struck walls and glass doors with a hammer. The suspect, while in possession of the hammer, subsequently made threatening statements towards two victims before exiting the building. No injuries were reported. A responding officer located the suspect as he exited the building. With the assistance of additional officers, he was taken into custody. The suspect suffered a laceration during the incident and was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Upon his release, Phillip Baroody, 53, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding, Assault and Battery, and Destruction of Property.
