A suspect was arrested after allegedly threatening a man with a knife during an attempted robbery on Washington Boulevard.
Police say the male victim was heading toward his parked car when he saw a masked man rummaging through it. When the victim confronted the intruder, the suspect reportedly brandished a knife and fled into a nearby building. The victim followed him briefly before calling 911.
Officers located the suspect inside the building, where he resisted arrest but was eventually subdued. Although items inside the car had been disturbed, nothing was reported stolen.
Samai Gayle, 25, with no fixed address, was arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery, Wearing a Mask in a Public Place, Trespassing in a Vehicle, and Obstruction of Justice. He is being held without bond.
