At approximately 3:23 a.m. on May 7, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined a witness observed the male suspect allegedly force entry into a secured residential bike storage room, steal two electric scooters and chargers and flee the scene. A lookout was broadcast and an officer located an individual matching the description of the suspect in the area. The suspect ran from the officer and, with the assistance of additional arriving officers, he was taken into custody. The stolen items were recovered, and during a search of the suspect incident to arrest, burglarious tools were recovered. Ahmad Bilal, 50, of Washington, DC, was arrested and charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny, Destruction of Property and Possession of Burglarious Tools. He was without bond.
