A violent altercation in the 1000 block of North Quincy Street on March 7 left one man hospitalized and resulted in an arrest after bystanders stepped in to help.
Police say the incident began when a woman approached a man outside and attempted to start a conversation. The man allegedly began yelling profanities before charging at the woman and striking her in the head.
A male bystander who witnessed the assault intervened but was struck by the suspect and knocked to the ground. Two additional bystanders then helped detain the suspect until police arrived.
The female victim and two of the bystanders were evaluated at the scene and released. The male victim who intervened sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.
The suspect was also taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Jonathan Rogers, 47, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding and Assault and Battery.
