An early morning traffic incident escalated into an alleged assault on law enforcement when a man reportedly drove the wrong way through a marked road closure and threatened an Arlington County Police Department Transportation Safety Specialist (TSS).
The TSS, who was managing a road closure near N. Highland Street and N. Hartford Street, confronted the driver. The suspect allegedly responded with threatening statements and accelerated his vehicle toward the TSS before fleeing the scene. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
A lookout was issued, and police quickly located the suspect in the area of N. Franklin Street and N. Edgewood Street. Officers arrested Semere Tseguy Dabesa, 41, of Alexandria, VA. He has been charged with Assault and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.
