At approximately 12:17 p.m. on September 25, the Metropolitan Police Department notified Arlington County Police of a suspect vehicle entering Arlington associated with a felony investigation in their jurisdiction. An Arlington County Police Officer located the suspect vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on I-395 and pursued the car. The suspect vehicle exited the highway and crashed at W. Braddock Road and N. Van Dorn Street in Alexandria. The suspect then exited the car and attempted to flee on foot. Officers initiated a foot pursuit and took the suspect into custody. During the investigation, it was determined the suspect vehicle had previously been reported stolen, and the suspect was operating the car without a driver’s license. Antonio Smith, 33, of Washington, DC, was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Receiving Stolen Goods, Eluding and No Driver’s License.
