At approximately 12:20 p.m. on March 11, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny that had just occurred. The preliminary information indicated the suspect entered a business, stole an unloaded firearm and fled the scene on foot. Responding officers established a perimeter and searched the area for the suspect. A police K9 was used to search an abandoned property in the 2700 block of N. Franklin Road, during which the suspect was located and taken into custody. A firearm was recovered on the scene. Ricky Smith, 33, of No Fixed Addres,s was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny and Unlawful Entry.
