ARLINGTON, VA — A 47-year-old Arlington man was arrested after police said he advanced toward an officer while holding a broken glass bottle during an incident on Wilson Boulevard.
Police responded to the 2700 block of Wilson Boulevard at approximately 11 a.m. for a reported assault. Investigators determined a man had entered a business, allegedly broken a glass bottle and begun waving it around.
Responding officers located the suspect outside the business and issued commands that police said he ignored. According to police, the suspect then advanced toward an officer while holding the broken bottle.
An officer deployed a Taser, and with assistance from an additional responding officer, the suspect was taken into custody.
Juan Francisco Melendez Melendez, 47, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with attempted malicious wounding on police, destruction of property and disorderly conduct.
