At approximately 5:35 p.m. on July 31, police were dispatched to Virginia Hospital Center for the late report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 4:30 p.m., the male suspect and male victim were inside a residence when they became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated to a physical altercation during which the suspect struck the victim. The victim subsequently left the home and self-responded to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Responding officers conducted a canvass of the area of the incident yielding negative results. During the course of the investigation, officers identified the suspect and obtained warrants for Malicious Wounding. The investigation is ongoing.
