At approximately 6:30 a.m. on July 5, police were dispatched to the report of an assault with a weapon. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim and the suspect, who are known to each other, were inside a residential building when they became engaged in a verbal dispute that escalated when the suspect allegedly struck the victim with a knife, causing a laceration. The suspect began to flee the scene but was located and detained by responding officers at the scene. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. During a search incident to arrest, a knife and suspected narcotics were recovered. Timothy Johnson, 70, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding and Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance.
