At approximately 4:29 a.m. on August 30, police were dispatched to the report of an assault with injury. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim and male suspect, who are known to each other, were inside a residence when they became involved in a verbal dispute during which the suspect brandished a firearm and struck the victim with it, resulting in a laceration. The suspect then discharged the gun inside the residence, striking a wall. The victim subsequently exited the home and called police. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. Responding officers established a perimeter and searched the residence for the suspect, which yielded negative results. During the investigation, officers identified the suspect. They obtained warrants for Malicious Wounding, Missile Into an Occupied Dwelling, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony and Reckless Handling of a Firearm. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
