At approximately 4:18 a.m. on September 8, police were dispatched to the report of a dispute. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim and male suspect, who are known to each other, were inside a building when they became involved in a verbal dispute during which the male suspect allegedly assaulted the victim, brandished a firearm, and made threatening statements. The suspect then stole the victim’s phone and prevented her from leaving a room. The victim was subsequently able to leave the room and seek assistance. Outside the building, the victim attempted to retrieve her phone from the suspect and he struck her, resulting in a laceration. The suspect then fled scene on foot. A lookout was broadcast and responding officers located and detained the suspect in the 2200 block of S. Eads Street. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and did not require medical attention. Medics responded and transported the suspect to an area hospital for further evaluation. Aaron Worrell, 39, of Portsmouth, Va. was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding, Robbery, Abduction, Brandishing, Use of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by Felon.
