At approximately 10:34 p.m. on April 25, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim was outside when she was approached from behind by the female suspect, who is known to her, and an unknown male suspect. The suspects allegedly then struck the victim, causing her to fall to the ground and physically assaulted her before stealing her purse and fleeing the scene on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated by medics on scene. Responding officers conducted a canvass of the area for the suspects yielding negative results. During the course of the investigation, warrants were obtained for the female suspect and the following day, she self-reported to the police station and was taken into custody. Gema Ibarra Romero, 20, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding and Robbery. She was held without bond. The male suspect was not located and is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’6”-5’9”, 150-170 pounds. The investigation is ongoing.
