A man faces multiple charges after allegedly assaulting people and forcing his way into a secured area during an incident involving two residential buildings on S. Eads Street.
According to the preliminary investigation, the suspect was inside a residential building lobby when he approached several people and allegedly engaged them in unwanted conversation. When the individuals moved behind a lobby counter, the suspect allegedly followed and assaulted one victim.
That victim ran to a neighboring residential building and entered a secured area. Police said the suspect followed, forced his way into the room and assaulted the victim again.
A security guard and a second victim intervened, and the suspect allegedly bit the second victim.
Responding officers located the suspect at the scene and took him into custody. The first victim was not injured, while the second victim went to a hospital with minor injuries. Medics transported the suspect to an area hospital for further evaluation.
Police obtained warrants charging the suspect with burglary, two counts of assault and battery, and destruction of property.
