A man was arrested after an alleged robbery attempt near 15th Street N. and N. Courthouse Road left another man with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the victim was outside when a man approached and asked him for money. After the victim handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect allegedly demanded additional money.
The suspect then allegedly tried to steal the victim’s bag, pulling its strap against the victim’s neck and making it difficult for him to breathe.
A responding officer saw the alleged assault, issued commands and took the suspect into custody. The victim later went to a hospital for treatment.
Zachary Thomas, 37, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, attempted robbery and strangulation. Police said he was held without bond.
