Suspect in Custody After Assaulting Arlington Police Officer

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Police Department has arrested Otis Brown, 29, of Waldorf, MD, on multiple charges, including Assault on Police, Aggravated Malicious Wounding, and Felony Destruction of Property. Brown is being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility.

The incident occurred around 12:52 a.m. on May 26. An officer conducting parking enforcement in the 2900 block of Columbia Pike observed Brown causing a disturbance outside a business. When the officer approached and issued commands, Brown was noncompliant and shoved the officer into a parked vehicle, damaging it. Brown then assaulted the officer before fleeing with a female companion. Responding officers located and arrested him at Columbia Pike and S. Glebe Road.

The officer sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition at a local hospital. Brown was also medically evaluated before being taken to booking.

The Arlington County Police Department thanked the bystanders who assisted the injured officer and provided crucial information that led to Brown’s swift apprehension.
