An 18-year-old Arlington resident has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal crash that occurred in the early hours of October 12, 2024. Brooks Bare faces charges of DUI/Involuntary Manslaughter and Breath/Blood Test Refusal after the crash that killed 19-year-old Nicholas Rados, also of Arlington. Bare is currently being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility.
Emergency responders were called to the scene around 1:58 a.m. in the 2200 block of N. Harrison Street. Upon arrival, they found the vehicle overturned after striking several parked cars. Medics quickly attended to Rados, who was a passenger in the vehicle, but he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
According to the police report, alcohol is believed to have played a role in the crash. Bare, the driver, had four passengers in the car. One sustained minor injuries and was discharged after hospital treatment, while the other two passengers and Bare were evaluated at the scene.
