At approximately 10:11 p.m. on August 13, police were dispatched to the report of a fight. Upon arrival, an officer observed a group of male and female subjects congregating outside of a residential building. When the officer announced themselves, one male suspect ran from the scene. The officer initiated a foot pursuit during which they observed the suspect discard a firearm. The officer recovered the firearm while additional arriving officers took the suspect into custody in the area of N. Piedmont Street and 6th Street N. No injuries were reported. During the course of the investigation, suspected narcotics were recovered. Brandon Carter-El Miller, 36, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Reckless Handling of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance and Possession of a Firearm While in Possession of Narcotics.
