At approximately 11:53 p.m. on February 14, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect allegedly entered the business, collected merchandise and attempted to exit without payment during which he was confronted by an employee. The suspect then attempted to strike the employee before exiting the store and fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported. A lookout was broadcast and responding officers located the suspect on a bus in the area of Columbia Pike and S. Orme Street and took him into custody. During the course of the investigation, the suspect provided officers with false personal identification information and it was determined he was wanted out of other jurisdictions. Walter Herring Jr., 31, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Robbery and Giving False Identity to a Law Enforcement Officer and served with the outstanding warrants.
