At approximately 11:08 p.m. on July 20, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the store allegedly collected merchandise and exited without payment. An employee then confronted the suspect outside the business, during which the suspect struck the employee before fleeing the scene on foot. The employee sustained minor injuries and was treated by medics on the scene. A lookout for the suspect was broadcast, and responding officers observed an individual matching the description of the suspect in the area of N. Glebe Road and 14th Street N. Officers issued commands to the individual, who was non-compliant and with the assistance of additional responding officers, he was taken into custody. The suspect was transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation. Kevin Singleton, 40, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with Robbery and Obstruction of Justice. He was held without bond.
