Arlington police responded to a report of a larceny in progress at a store on Columbia Pike. Upon arrival, they determined that a male suspect had entered the store, concealed merchandise, and attempted to leave. When confronted by an employee, the suspect allegedly struck the employee and fled on foot.
The employee sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment. Officers quickly issued a lookout and located a suspect matching the description at 7th Street S. and S. Glebe Road. The individual was taken into custody.
During the investigation, officers recovered suspected narcotics.
John McCoy, 28, of Arlington, VA, was arrested and charged with Robbery and Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance. He is being held without bond.
