At approximately 6:58 p.m. on April 26, police were dispatched to Wakefield High School for the report of a person with a gun. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim attempted to gain access to a sports field when the male suspect allegedly confronted him and a verbal dispute ensued. The suspect then made threatening statements, retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and fired one shot into the air before fleeing the scene in his vehicle. No injuries were reported. Responding officers located the suspect in the area of S. George Mason Drive and S. Dinwiddie Street and took him into custody without incident. During the course of the investigation, evidence of a shot being fired and a firearm were recovered. Mark Hutcherson, 33, of Fredericksburg, Va. was arrested and charged with Reckless Handling of a Firearm, Brandishing a Firearm on School Grounds, Discharging a Firearm Near a School and Possession of a Weapon on School Property.
