A quiet stretch of Fairfax Drive in the Ballston-Virginia Square neighborhood turned into a crime scene early Sunday morning, when Arlington Police responded to a 911 call about a shooting inside a residential building.
The victim—57-year-old Travis Renee Baldwin of Winchester, VA—was found with a gunshot wound inside the apartment. Officers attempted lifesaving measures, and she was rushed to the hospital, but later died from her injuries.
Her son, 27-year-old Logan Chrisinger of Arlington, was arrested at the scene. Police say he remained inside the apartment after the shooting. Chrisinger is now facing three felony charges: first-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He’s being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility.
According to police, this was a domestic incident—indicating a possible long-simmering family conflict that turned violent.
Detectives are still working to piece together what led to the shooting. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.
Anyone who might have information about what happened is urged to call the ACPD Tip Line at 703-228-4180.
This is the second fatal shooting in Arlington this summer involving a family member. While overall violent crime remains low in the county, domestic incidents like this highlight a growing need for mental health and crisis intervention resources.
