An attempted robbery on the afternoon of September 27 escalated into a violent struggle involving multiple individuals and ultimately led to the arrest of a man who assaulted police officers.
A woman was walking in the area when a man attempted to steal her purse and successfully stole her wallet. During the confrontation, two witnesses intervened, and the suspect made threatening statements toward them. The witnesses managed to detain the suspect until police arrived.
Upon officers’ arrival, the suspect actively resisted arrest, kicking at officers until backup arrived and he was taken into custody. Even while detained, the suspect continued to make threatening statements toward the officers.
One of the witnesses suffered minor injuries in the altercation.
Ricko Ford, 32, with no fixed address, was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Robbery, Assault and Battery, and three counts of Obstruction of Justice. He is currently being held without bond.
