At approximately 6:35 a.m. on July 30, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect allegedly broke windows of five different homes in the area and subsequently made entry into three of them. Responding officers established a perimeter and located the suspect inside an unoccupied residence, issued commands and took him into custody. The suspect sustained minor injuries consistent with breaking glass and was transported to an area hospital. No items were reported stolen. During the course of the investigation, the suspect provided false personal identification information to officers. Richard Mecham, 31, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Unlawful Entry (x3), Destruction of Property (x5) and Giving False Identity to Law Enforcement.
