ARLINGTON, Va. – A staff member at Washington-Liberty High School is facing serious charges after allegedly having inappropriate contact with a student, both online and in person.

Arlington Police arrested 31-year-old Rene Alfredo Escobar Jr., an instructional assistant at the school, on July 1. He’s been charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and Stalking – 2nd Offense Within 5 Years.

Police launched an investigation back in late May, after learning of Escobar’s alleged behavior with a juvenile female student. According to the Arlington County Police Department’s Special Victims Unit, the inappropriate interactions happened both on the internet and in real life.

While police haven’t released more details—citing a state law that limits what can be shared during sensitive investigations—they say they’re concerned there may be more victims. Escobar has worked at other schools and a community center in Arlington, putting him in contact with many local minors.

Detectives are urging anyone who may have had similar encounters with Escobar, or has information related to the case, to come forward.
